IELTS prep in Uzbekistan is paywalled, fragmented, and often a PDF dump. Teachers needed something they could actually run with a class. Students needed something they could open on a phone.
Constraint
Solo. Welding days, Tashkent evenings. No content team. If a feature needed a babysitter, it would die the week I went back to the shop.
What shipped
144 tests in production and 10 tools. AI essay feedback. A speaking lab. A 40-day tracker. PWA. The login walls came down — most of it is free, because a wall in front of a practice test is just another fee.
The hard part
Scoring and content quality at volume, without a newsroom or a publishing house behind it. pangea8 is the rebrand case: the product outgrew the name.
